Amy Flischel, MD
After growing up in Warren, Ohio, Dr. Flischel graduated from Washington and Jefferson College with a BA in biology and then matriculated to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She was elected AOA in 2006 and graduated in 2007. Following a preliminary medicine internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital (affiliated with the Ohio State University) in Columbus, Ohio, she completed her dermatology training at Case Western University Hospitals, serving as chief resident in her final year. Amy returned to active duty at the Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California, where she was assistant program director for the Navy’s dermatology residency program. An avid educator, she received the outstanding teacher award and mentored a score of medical students and residents who treasured her common sense, patient-centered, evidence-based, goal-focused approach to health care. After three years, she was reassigned to the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in Chicago, where she was appointed section chief of the Department and Dermatology and promoted to Lieutenant Commander. In 2018, Dr. Flischel joined the Department of Dermatology at Northwestern University working in the northern suburbs of Chicago. A fellow of the American Board of Dermatology, she is a mission-driven physician dedicated to her patients, medical students, residents, and staff.
Amy enjoys spending time with her husband (Jeff) and two children (Kaelyn and Reed). They love to travel, hike, play tennis, and listen to music of all kinds.
